Mr. Lanasa was born and raised in Key West, Florida. As the son of a commercial fisherman and a city employee, he grew up in a family that emphasized the importance of a strong work ethic and being a self-made person where hard work and service are cornerstone values. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in exercise and sport science from the University of Florida in 2003. He attended the Florida State University College of Law. He received his Juris Doctorate (JD) in 2009 and graduated cum laude in the top 15% of his class. He has been a member of the Florida Bar since his admission in 2009. He is also admitted in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida as well as the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. Mr. Lanasa is a former Assistant State Attorney who prosecuted in the misdemeanor and felony divisions. His criminal defense practice has afforded him the opportunity to handle thousands of matters that have included serious crimes at the trial, appellate, and post-conviction level. His practice has also included complex employment discrimination, contract, business, and real estate litigation. Mr. Lanasa’s trial experience is broad and successful.
Mr. Lanasa is a member of the Tallahassee Chapter of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is a member of the Tallahassee Bar Association as well as the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is active in the community as part of the Greater Tallahassee Area Chamber of Commerce and serves on the board of his local fraternity. He spends time generating opportunity for underprivileged children to be given opportunity to enjoy wilderness adventures. Mr. Lanasa is an avid outdoorsman and can regularly be found in his free time hiking, camping, rock climbing and high alpine mountaineering.
